Robotic Welding Cell Cost in 2026: What Small Shops Pay

Robotics Reviewed Research DeskNovember 3, 2026Sources: manufacturer and dealer price pages, vendor financing terms, and federal wage data

Our analysts gathered published prices for six robotic welding cell packages from manufacturers and a welding supply dealer, the buying and financing terms that welding robot vendors publish, and May 2025 federal wage data for welders, to show what a robotic welding cell costs a small shop as of Q4 2026.1

Key Findings

  • A complete fenced robot cell can cost less than a cobot. Yaskawa lists its two-station ArcWorld LC at $69,990 or $78,990, depending on the power source.
  • Most cobot welding tools cost $95,000 to $140,000. Hirebotics starts at $105,000, and a Lincoln Electric Cooper package sells for $118,595 at one dealer.
  • A barebones cobot kit costs as little as $75,000, but the buyer supplies the welder, torch, and cable management.
  • One welder costs about $81,000 a year with benefits, so the typical cobot cell costs about 14 to 21 months of one welder's pay.
  • Vendors claim payback in 18 months to 2 years. Those are vendor figures, and they assume the cell runs enough work to offset that pay.

A robotic welding cell is a robot arm, a welding power source, a torch, a table or positioner, and the safety equipment around them. Small shops now choose between two main kinds. Collaborative robots, or cobots, from vendors such as Hirebotics and Vectis are built to work next to people, and Hirebotics runs its cobot welder from an app.4 Traditional fenced cells, such as Yaskawa's ArcWorld, run faster industrial robots behind guarding. AI welding systems from Path Robotics, Abagy, and Novarc plan their own weld paths for high-mix work.

We used price pages from Hirebotics and Vectis, a Yaskawa sale sheet, a welding supply dealer's listing, vendor financing pages, and Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data.

In the following sections, we compare welding cell prices, what each price includes, the ways to pay, a welder's pay, and how the two compare.

What a Robotic Welding Cell Costs

Several welding robot sellers publish prices, so small shops can compare actual numbers. The prices below are the published starting or listed prices for complete packages.

Key Findings

  • The lowest published price for a complete cell is Yaskawa's ArcWorld LC at $69,990. The sale sheet says it includes the robot, controller, torch, power supply, and protective fencing, and is aimed at job shops welding small and medium parts.2
  • Cobot welding tools cluster between $95,000 and $140,000. Vectis says most of its systems fall in that range all-in, and the Hirebotics Cobot Welder starts at $105,000.3,4
  • Dealer prices can sit well below list. Harris Welding Supplies sells a Lincoln Electric Cooper GoFa-10 package for $118,595, against a list price of $142,000.5

What the Price Includes

The same headline price can buy very different packages, so the contents matter as much as the number.

Key Findings

  • The Hirebotics Cobot Welder ships with a Universal Robots UR8 Long arm with 68.9 inches of reach, a Miller Auto Deltaweld 350 power source, a Tregaskiss air-cooled torch, a 48 by 32 inch mobile cart, a consumables kit, and Beacon software.4
  • Hirebotics prices extras such as Beacon Pro, Beacon Care, multipass welding, and seam tracking separately, along with hardware such as water-cooled torches, rotary kits, and fixture tables.4
  • Vectis's $75,000 Super DIY package leaves out the welder, torch, and cable management, and the company does not recommend it for first-time users.3
  • Yaskawa says changes to the ArcWorld LC cell, the torch package, or a torch reamer need a separate quote.2

Buying, Renting, and Financing a Welding Cell

Most welding robots are still bought outright, but vendors increasingly offer rentals, financing, and service plans to lower the upfront cost.

VendorHow to payPublished payback claim
HireboticsBought outright; no required subscription; financing through partnersMost systems pay for themselves within 18 months4
VectisBought outright, rental with purchase option, or financing through Anthem CapitalMost customers report payback in 2 years or less3

Key Findings

  • Hirebotics sells systems outright with no required subscription and offers financing through partners.4
  • Vectis offers a try before you buy rental with a purchase option, financing through Anthem Capital, a 30-day return policy, and a two-year warranty.3
  • Abagy advertises partner financing over 12 to 84 months, with $0 down and payment deferral options of three to six months.6
  • AI welding vendors Path Robotics and Novarc do not publish prices.7,8

What a Welder Costs

The main cost a welding cell offsets is welder time. We used the May 2025 mean wage for welders, cutters, solderers, and brazers, and added benefits using the federal estimate that wages make up 70% of total compensation.9,10

Mean pay for welders, cutters, solderers, and brazers, May 2025
MeasureWages onlyWith benefits
Hourly$27.29$38.99
Yearly, one full-time welder$56,760$81,086
Yearly, two shifts$113,520$162,171

Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics, May 20259

Key Findings

  • Welders earn a mean $27.29 an hour, or about $38.99 with benefits.9
  • One full-time welder costs about $81,000 a year with benefits, and covering two shifts costs about $162,000.
  • About 416,210 people work as welders, cutters, solderers, and brazers in the United States.9

Welding Cell Price vs. Welder Pay

Measuring each cell's price in months of one welder's pay shows how quickly the labor math can work. It leaves out fixtures, installation, consumables, and the operator who loads parts and checks welds, so it is the start of a business case, not the whole one.

Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Yaskawa, Vectis, Hirebotics, and Harris Welding Supplies. Chart: Robotics Reviewed.

Key Findings

  • The ArcWorld LC costs about 10 months of one welder's pay with benefits, the shortest in this report.
  • A typical cobot cell costs about 14 to 21 months of pay. The Hirebotics Cobot Welder sits at about 16 months.
  • On two shifts, the same cells cost about half as many months of pay, which is why vendors pitch cells to shops that can keep them busy.

What Welding Cell Costs Mean for Small Shops

For a shop with repeat parts and steady volume, a fenced cell such as the ArcWorld LC offers the lowest published price for a complete system, but it takes floor space and fixed guarding. A cobot welding tool costs more per package, but tools such as the Hirebotics Cobot Welder come on a mobile cart that can move between jobs, which suits shops with many short runs. AI welding vendors aim at high-mix work and larger parts, and they price each job by quote.

Our reviews of Hirebotics, Vectis, Path Robotics, Abagy, and Novarc cover each company's products, deployment record, and buying terms in more detail.

So if you are pricing a first cell, start with the parts you weld most, ask each vendor what the package leaves out, and compare the total with what those welding hours cost you today.

Methodology
We included robotic welding cell packages with a public price from the manufacturer or a dealer listing, read on November 3, 2026. The Yaskawa ArcWorld LC prices come from an inventory sale sheet for cells with the original fence kit, so availability is limited. Prices were not adjusted for taxes, shipping, or installation. Payback figures are reported as the vendors publish them; we did not audit them. Welder pay uses the May 2025 mean wage for welders, cutters, solderers, and brazers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and divides wages by 0.70, since wages and salaries made up 70% of private-industry compensation in June 2026.10 Months of pay divide each cell price by one twelfth of the yearly pay with benefits. We calculated products, sums, and ratios from the published values.
