X-Nav Technologies

X-Nav Technologies is a Lansdale, Pennsylvania, maker of X-Guide, a dynamic 3D navigation system that guides dental implant drills in real time, sold in the US through Nobel Biocare. The FDA cleared an updated X-Guide in August 2026, and the company is developing a navigated dental robot.5,4,2

Our take

X-Nav is a focused dental navigation company with an unusually strong distribution partner. Nobel Biocare sells X-Guide in the US as part of its digital implant workflow, and X-Nav's leadership includes part of the team that brought i-CAT cone beam imaging to dentistry.4,3

X-Guide is navigation rather than robotics today: it gives turn-by-turn guidance on position, angle, and depth while the dentist drills. A robotic version is in development but is not for sale or patient use, and prices are not published.1,2

Who uses X-Nav and what it's for

General dentists, oral surgeons, and periodontists with a cone beam CT scanner use X-Guide to plan implants and follow the plan during surgery, including same-day guided cases without a printed surgical guide.1

Full-arch practices use FastMap, a navigated photogrammetry feature, to map final implant positions and register the plan inside X-Guide.4

History

Ed Marandola co-founded X-Nav in October 2012. He earlier led Imaging Sciences International, maker of the i-CAT cone beam 3D dental imaging system, which Danaher bought in January 2007.3,7

Dr. Robert W. Emery, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, is a co-founder and chief medical officer. In 2024 X-Nav added AI segmentation from Relu to X-Guide.6

X-Guide and the X-Nav robot

X-Guide works with a practice's cone beam CT. Its patented X-Point target gives a single live view of drill position and anatomy, and the newer X-Guide NXT adds a low-profile design and a foot pedal for hands-free control. The FDA cleared the X-Guide Surgical Navigation System under 510(k) K253954 on August 28, 2026.1,5

X-Nav is developing the X-Nav Robotic System as an evolution of X-Guide. The company says it is not available for sale or patient use, and surgeons have tested it, including in cadaver labs.2

Pricing

X-Nav does not publish a price. It says X-Guide costs a fraction of traditional printed surgical guides over time, and buyers request a demo through X-Nav or Nobel Biocare.1,4

Limits

Prices are not published.1

The robot is in development, with no FDA submission announced, so X-Guide is navigation only for now.2

Revenue is not disclosed. We estimate it at $8 million to $15 million, based on its single X-Guide product line and US distribution through Nobel Biocare. This is an estimate, not a reported figure.4,1

What customers say

Where it helps

Same-day implant cases are the main benefit: practices can scan, plan, and place implants in one visit without waiting for a printed guide.4,1

Practices already in the Nobel Biocare system get X-Guide inside a workflow they know, including FastMap for full-arch provisionals.4

Where it falls short

Practices that want a robot arm that physically constrains the drill today should look at Neocis Yomi, since the X-Nav robot is not yet on sale.
