Training in a Beihang robotics lab
Liu trained in the robotics lab of Professor Wang Tianmiao at Beihang University in Beijing.1
Wang began building a medical robotics team at Beihang in 1997, and in 1999 the team completed a robot-assisted frameless stereotactic brain operation, which removed the need for a head frame. That work became the basis for Remebot's first product.2
Founding Remebot
Liu founded Beijing Baihui Weikang Technology, which trades as Remebot, in 2010. In 2018 its neurosurgical robot became the first approved in China.1
In December 2020, as founder, chairman, and CEO, he announced a 430 million yuan Series D and said the capital would consolidate the company's position in surgical robots. The company planned to spend about 300 million yuan on the neurosurgical robot and the rest on its dental implant robot.3
