Physics at MIT and venture capital
Pridmore studied physics and computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He then joined the venture firm Founders Fund, where he identified DeepMind as an investment and worked with its founders.1
He spent more than a decade in investing, including roles at Founders Fund and Arda Capital Management, and invested in DeepMind and Clarifai.2
Founding OSARO
After Google bought DeepMind in 2014, Pridmore concluded that AI had large commercial potential and founded OSARO around teaching robots to pick objects.1
He now argues for perception models trained first with deep learning. He has said OSARO already provides models trained on millions of items, and expects smaller foundation models to add basic robot control within a few years.3
The main difference is that it's deep learning first, so it's an AI-first implementation.Robotics 24/7, October 13, 2026
